This a recoding of an arc welding machine being used to make electric sparks. Gear used: neumann ku100 dummy head, schoeps cmc 5u mk8, schoeps minicmit, zaxcom maxx.

This is a short loop i made with a cassette tape head as a pickup on a single guitar string across a plank of wood and played with a plastic fishing discorger like a hammered dulcimer. Fed through my nux mfx-10 effects pedal into a boss loopstation and then recorded into reaper.

Timpano, 71 cm diameter, tuned approximately to g. Several hits, from very soft to very loud. Played with a yarn mallet, directly in the center of the drum head. Samples are a little 'cleaned up' (noise reduction, silence removed, etc. ) but otherwise unprocessed.

Old epson printer has this ink-check procedure if one of cartridges is missing. The head goes back and forth while integrated circuits inside are testing cartridge response. I couldn't let this one go.

Listen with secure stereo headphones. The first wave sounds mono; it should appear as though the sound is coming from the center of your head. In the second wave, the right channel has been inverted--otherwise identical. That should sound as though there are two distinct sounds coming from either ear.

Each quick loop / snippet is 1) presented in mono / processed with compression and some eq (mostly a 6dbish scoop at around 300hz on the mk1000 and 80hz rolloff on the 2020 with about 5db less on the mk1000 than the 2020), then 2) presented exactly as recorded / no processing at all save normalization, mk1000 panned hard left channel, at2020 panned hard right. The first two samples are the mk1000 in the resonant head cutout, the third is the mk1000 positioned about 4" from the head and just about 2" from dead center of the drum.
